Ukrainian vehicle production in April grows 31% on March 2015

Vehicle production in Ukraine tentatively totaled 563 units in April, which was almost 31% up on March 2015 (430 units), although it fell by 88% year-over-year, the Ukrautoprom association has reported.

The association said that growth in vehicle output on March was mainly thanks to the increase in the production of passenger cars by 43.9%, to 436 units first thanks to Zaporizhia Automobile Plant (ZAZ) resuming operation.

Passenger car production in April plummeted by over 90% year-over-year.

A total of 91 commercial vehicles were made in April (all vehicles were made at AvtoKrAZ), which was 13.3% down on March 2015 and 35% down year-over-year.

Bus production grew by 63.6% in April on March 2015, to 36 buses, and it was 73.7% down on April 2014.

In January-April vehicle output fell by 92.1% year-over-year, to 1,485 vehicles.

Passenger car output plunged by 95.7%, to 971, bus production – by 72.2%, to 114 and commercial vehicles output – by 41.3%, to 400.

In April 2015 Bogdan Corporation's plants were almost idle – only seven buses were manufactured in Lutsk and no passenger cars or commercial vehicles were manufactured in Cherkasy. Etalon Corporation's plants were also idle.

Eurocar plant which produces Skoda cars cut production by 66.3% in January-April 2015, to 689 cars, including 159 cars made in April (a decline of 46.6% on March 2015 and 73.8% on April 2014).

Cherkasy Bus boosted production by 52.4% thanks to the production of 44 commercial vehicles. Bus output fell by 17.5%, to 52 buses.

Chasov Yar bus plant (Donetsk region) produced 51 buses in the first four months of 2015, a decline of 30% year-over-year, including 17 buses in April (41 buses in April 2014).

AvtoKrAZ exhibited a stable upward pace in the commercial segment: it increased vehicle output by 28% in January-April 2015, to 361.
