Naftogaz Ukrainy due to the development of reverse directions can choose the most cost-effective routes for gas supplies, holding director for business development Yuriy Vitrenko has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"Over the past year we created conditions when every day or month we can decide where to import gas from: from Europe or from Gazprom. Our choice, in turn, depends on several factors, including the price," he said.

According to him, Ukraine organized the possibility of supplying natural gas from different directions, first of all, to get this choice.

At the same time, Naftogaz does not intend to abandon gas imports diversification.

"We understand very well how important it is to maintain the diversification of imports not to lose this right to choose," Vitrenko said.

"When we decide on from whom and how much gas to buy, we consider this factor. We have not bought and do not buy gas from Poland or Hungary. Gas purchased by Naftogaz from European suppliers is delivered through them, as well as via Slovakia. The choice of the specific delivery route depends on agreements between the gas buyer and its seller," he added.
