Astarta posts EUR 68.08 mln in net loss in 2014

Astarta agroindustrial holding, a large Ukrainian sugar producer, posted EUR 68.08 million net loss in 2014 against EUR 22.3 million net profit in 2013.

Astarta's consolidated revenue last year grew by 7.6%, to EUR 351.9 million, the company said in a report on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Its operating profit soared by almost 2.7 times, to EUR 91.5 million, while gross profit grew by 1.6 times, to EUR 130.9 million.

EBITDA in 2014 increased by 1.85 times, to EUR 119.57 million, while EBITDA margin was 34% against 20% in 2013.

Astarta's losses due to forex fluctuations amounted to almost EUR 159.3 million.

The agroholding's net debt as of the end of 2014 stood at EUR 217 million, which was 18% down on 2013.

Astarta earned EUR 171 million from sugar production (49% of total sales), the revenue of the new soybean processing segment totaled EUR 74 million (21% of total sales).

The revenue of the grain and oilseed segment was estimated at EUR 71 million (20% of consolidated revenue).

Grain exports grew by 43% and accounted for about 80% of sales in the segment. Dairy sales were estimated at EUR 29 million, or 8% of consolidated revenue.
