Cabinet to allocate UAH 500 mln for energy efficient housing – Zubko

The government is preparing to take measures to increase the energy efficiency of housing, Deputy Prime Minister Hennadiy Zubko has said.

"Next week, at a government meeting, we're expecting to make a decree according to which we will compensate not only 20% when buying non-gas heaters, but also 30% when insulating and modernizing individual houses. In addition, 40% will be compensated when insulating multi-storey buildings," Zubko said at a briefing on Friday.

He said that the government will allocate UAH 500 million for this project and the money will be distributed in three directions. Those who want to participate in the project should contact JSC State Savings Bank of Ukraine (Oschadbank) which will carry out the project.

"I'd like all Ukrainians to be involved in energy saving," Zubko said.

In addition, he said that a legislative base to let foreign energy service companies enter the Ukrainian energy market has been prepared.

Zubko also said that energy efficiency was discussed during the meeting between Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Thursday. He said that Germany might invest in energy efficiency.
