The authorities of Kharkiv region will facilitate the implementation of the joint project of Ukrainian agricultural holding Kernel and U.S.-based Seaboard Food on the construction of a pig farm in the region, head of the regional state administration Mykhailo Dobkin has said in an interview with the Capital publication.

"The central regions would be better for investors as they are considered traditionally agrarian. But they knew they would quickly get all permits and start implementing the project. It was necessary to select the sites, obtain permits, examine water, soil, everything was done very quickly," said Dobkin.

He said that investment at the first phase of the project would be $700 million, and its further development depends on whether the Association Agreement with the EU is signed or not.

"Now everyone is waiting for November 28, when the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU is completed. This will be a clear signal to investors about which rules they will have to work [under, those of] the Customs Union or the European Union," said Dobkin.
