Ukrlandfarming, the largest agricultural holding in Ukraine, plans to harvest 2 million tonnes of corn in 2013.

"We plan to harvest around 2 million tonnes of corn," the owner of the holding, Oleh Bakhmatiuk told reporters at the Ukrainian Grain Congress IV in Kyiv on Wednesday, October 22.

He also said that due to bad weather the company has not sowed all the fields with winter crops that it planned.

"We did not sow winter crops on the fields that amount to around 25% of the target. We'll sow them during the spring campaign," Bakhmatiuk said.

He said that Ukrlandfarming planned to sow 120,000 hectares with winter crops.

The owner of the holding said that Ukrlandfarming sow corn, sunflower seeds, soybeans and sugar beets on the said fields.

Bakhmatiuk also said that his company will harvest 3 million tonnes of crops in 2013, which is 400,000 tonnes up year-over-year. He said that the wheat harvest came to 600,000 tonnes.

As reported, Ukrlandfarming plans to sow around 300,000 hectares with corn in 2014, which is 19% up on 2013. In 2013 the company wants to enter the top three largest grain exporters.

Earlier Bakhmatiuk said that Ukrlandfarming will export 2.5 million tonnes of grain in 2013, including 1.5 million tonnes of grain made by the holding.

Ukrlandfarming, according to him, is the largest agricultural holding in Eurasia. It is engaged in the cultivation of grains, the production of eggs and egg goods, sugar, cattle breeding, and the distribution of equipment, fertilizers and seeds.

The structure of the holding includes 146 horizontal grain storage facilities, six seed plants, 19 poultry farms, nine farms for breeding laying hens, six feed plants, three warehouses for long storage, Imperovo Foods plant for production of egg goods, six sugar plants, 19 meat processing plants and two leather plants. It has 68,000 head of cattle.

The company's land bank today is 670,000 hectares.
