AeroSvit plans to start selling tickets for long-haul flights in summer navigation period

Kyiv-based AeroSvit Airline has decided to start selling tickets for long-haul flights for the period of summer navigation in 2013, including on the Kyiv-New York route, from early April 2013, the airline's press service has told Interfax-Ukraine.

The press service said that the sale of tickets for Kyiv-Beijing flights would open immediately after the approval of a flight schedule of the route.

In addition, in February-March 2013, the airline will perform separate flights to New York, Beijing and Bangkok, taking into account the loading of the flights and the necessity to take back passengers.

In addition, the airline said that AeroSvit returned a Boeing 767-300-ER to the leasing company.

The company's fleet includes seven Boeing 767 planes.

The press service added that medium-haul Boeing 737 planes would be gradually returned to their leasing companies.

AeroSvit was created in 1994. It is based at Boryspil airport in Kyiv. It previously served 80 international destinations in 34 countries, and provided services to the largest cities of Ukraine. Its fleet consisted of 28 Boeing aircraft, including 20 medium-range Boeing 737s and eight long-haul Boeing 767s. In addition to that, it operated Airbus 320, Airbus 321, Embraer 145, Embraer 190, and ATR-72 aircraft.

In the first half of January 2013, many flights of AeroSvit were canceled. On January 15, the route network was reduced to two internal and ten international routes. On January 16, the company reported that it introduced a temporary flight schedule until January 31, according to which it would fly on six routes: four international and two domestic routes.

On January 25, 2013, Dniproavia appealed to AeroSvit with a proposal to perform its flights from Kyiv to Dnipropetrovsk and Ivano-Frankivsk under its own code.
