AeroSvit stops flying to Astana from Jan 16, UIA to fly on route

Ukrainian AeroSvit Airline from January 16, 2013 is to terminate its flights from Kyiv to Astana.

"AeroSvit has sent notification to the Transport and Communications Ministry of Kazakhstan of the stoppage of flights to Astana from January 16, 2013," Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Transport and Communications Ministry of Kazakhstan, Beken Seidakhmetov, said, answering a question of Interfax-Kazakhstan.

He said that regular Astana-Kyiv flights would be performed by Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) from January 16, 2013.

"All passengers who bought tickets for AeroSvit's flights will be carried by UIA," he said.

Ukraine International Airlines was founded in 1992. Its fleet consists of 21 medium-ranged Boeing 737. The airlines operates flights to 40 capitals and cities of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the CIS. It also services connecting flights with routes of its international partners in more than 3,000 cities around the globe. Its main airport is Kyiv's Boryspil International Airport.

AeroSvit was created in 1994. It is based at Boryspil airport in Kyiv. It served 80 international destinations in 34 countries. It provided services to passengers in the largest cities of Ukraine. Its fleet consisted of 28 Boeing aircraft, including 20 medium-range Boeing 737s and eight long-haul Boeing 767s. In addition to that, it operated Airbus 320, Airbus 321, Embraer 145, Embraer 190, and ATR-72 aircraft.
