Ukraine should improve its energy efficiency, create favorable investment conditions, and fight against corruption in order to strengthen its national security, Ambassador of Norway to Ukraine Jon Elvedal Fredriksen has said.

"We heard from our Ukrainian partners that pressure from the East is growing. In connection with this, issues related to national security should be thoroughly discussed," the diplomat said during a discussion entitled "The National Security of Ukraine in the Context of Recent Changes in Foreign and Domestic Policy" in Kyiv on Monday.

The ambassador mentioned Ukraine's current problems with gas supplies. According to him, tension in the sphere could be relaxed as soon as the country resolves all of its domestic problems.

"The settlement of energy efficiency problems, the creation of a favorable investment climate, as well as the further fight against corruption could relax this tension," the diplomat said.
