Vodafone Ukraine's net profit in H1 2024 down by 14% with revenue growth of 13%
PrJSC VF Ukraine (the Vodafone Ukraine brand), the second largest mobile operator in Ukraine, in the first half of 2024 reduced its net profit by 14% compared to the same period in 2023, to UAH 1.954 billion.
As the press service of the mobile operator reported on Thursday, according to the financial report, its revenue increased by 13%, to UAH 11.707 billion.
It is indicated that the company's OIBDA increased by 8% compared to the same period last year, to UAH 6.408 billion. The OIBDA margin indicator decreased slightly by 2.3 percentage points (p.p.), to 54.7%.
The company specified that the 14% decrease in net profit compared to the same period last year was due to exchange rate fluctuations.
Vodafone Ukraine notes an increase in the number of mobile customers over the year by 4.1%, to 15.9 million as of June 30, 2024.
It is specified that more than 2 million subscribers remain abroad and continue to use the company's services.
It is recalled that in early July 2024, seven Ukrainian and 22 European mobile and fixed-line operators in Ukraine and other European countries signed a joint statement on extending available roaming to support Ukraine for the next 12 months.
According to the press release, in the second quarter, the company's ARPU increased by 4.1%, to UAH 115.8 per month from UAH 108.4 in the first quarter.
In addition, the release says, in the first half of 2024, the volume of capital investments of Vodafone-Ukraine amounted to UAH 2.12 billion. Priority areas are energy sustainability of mobile communication facilities, expansion of the capacity of the mobile network, construction of fixed Internet access networks based on modern GPON technology.
In total, over the past 2.5 years of full-scale war, Vodafone has invested UAH 11.36 billion in Ukraine.
Vodafone also began testing an indoor 5G solution in May of this year, which the company built jointly with Nokia in Ivano-Frankivsk on the territory of the Promprylad innovation center.
"These were the first sites in Ukraine where 5G became available not only with the help of special demonstration equipment. It was possible to experience a new level of speed and capabilities of modern technologies with the help of ordinary smartphones and tablets with 5G support," the company said.
Vodafone Ukraine is a leading Ukrainian telecom company providing high-speed 3G and 4G Internet, fixed-line communications and Internet services. As reported, the company's revenue in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to UAH 5.76 billion, net profit - UAH 915 million.
