India interested in keeping oil prices reasonable, stable – Foreign Minister
The issue of trade in energy resources between India and Russia was raised during the talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Friday. India and the international economy as a whole are interested in keeping oil prices reasonable and stable, country's Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said.
"We explained to the Ukrainian side what was the energy market scenario. The fact that today many energy producers are sanctioned is making the market potentially very tight," the Indian Foreign Minister said at a briefing following the talks in Kyiv.
As reported, Modi's current visit to Kyiv is the first visit of an Indian prime minister to Ukraine since the latter gained independence in 1991.
India became the largest importer of Russian oil in July, overtaking China.
