About 40% of Ukrainians consider themselves football supporters, of which 9% consider themselves fans, while the same percentage thinks they are active supporters, according to a survey conducted by the Rating Sociological Group on August 9-18.

The statement notes that almost 60% of respondents, including 40% of men and over 70% of women, are not interested in football at all. Mainly young people, nearly a third of men and about 10% of women are actively interested in this sport.

The most popular Ukrainian clubs are Dynamo (39%) and Shakhtar (25%). Less popular clubs are Metalist (6%), Dnipro (3%), Karpaty (3%) and Chornomorets (3%).

Dynamo enjoys the greatest support in northern, central and western regions of the country. Shakhtar is virtually the sole favorite in the Donbas and shares top place with Dynamo in southern regions. Metalist is the most popular club in Ukraine's eastern regions, slightly ahead of Shakhtar, Dnipro and Dynamo.
