FFU: It's impossible to organize joint league without FIFA and UEFA

First Vice-President of the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) Serhiy Storozhenko has said that it is impossible to resolve the issue of the possible organization of a unified football league between clubs in Russia and Ukraine without the approval of FIFA and UEFA, while the clubs themselves cannot join any association without the consent of the relevant football authorities.

"I want to say that there will be no development without UEFA and FIFA, without the consideration of the issue of the championship by these organizations. FIFA and UEFA don't correspond with any associations, including, in my opinion, with illegal ones. Therefore, only if the [Football] Federation of Russia and the FFU address UEFA and FIFA can this idea be considered," he said in an interview with the Football television channel on Tuesday.

Storozhenko said that UEFA and FIFA, through their leaders, had expressed their attitude to the matter and, in his opinion, the tournament organizers should first ask the football authorities whether their position is final or not.

"Nobody can be scared by these amounts. In addition, financing 16 clubs from a single source is a gross violation of financial fair play. So, if you start something with violations, it will lead to violations," he said.
