In Sumy, two killed from missile strike, rescue work completed – administration

Two people died and 26 were injured as a result of a Russian missile attack on the city of Sumy on Friday, six of the victims are in medical institutions, according to Sumy Regional Military Administration's Facebook page.

"As of March 8, 12.00, rescue operations were completed... The premises of the school, the central city hospital, the regional center for emergency medical care and disaster medicine, and the water utility were damaged. In total, (approximately) 135 windows and ten doors were broken," the administration said.

In particular, 28 windows and two doors were damaged in the hospital; the medical facility is open and hospitalization is underway.

Some 16 units of equipment and 92 rescuers were involved in the work to eliminate the consequences of the missile strike.

As reported, the Russian occupiers launched an air and missile strike on the city of Sumy on Thursday afternoon. In an evening address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that as a result of the strike there were dead, without specifying their number, and ten injured, four of whom were hospitalized. Later it was reported that information on the victims of the strike and destruction was being clarified.
