Washington should continue financial support for Ukraine without interruptions, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the U.S. National Security Council John Kirby said on Tuesday.

"We cannot under any circumstances allow America's support for Ukraine to be interrupted. Time is not our friend," Kirby said at a press briefing, adding that the United States has enough funding authorities to meet Ukraine's needs for a bit longer.

"A lapse in support for even a short period of time" may aggravate the situation, he said.

According to Kirby, the Pentagon still has enough funding authorities to meet Ukraine's battlefields. At the same time, Kirby admitted that if the US Congress does not soon agree on the provision of additional funds to support Ukraine, the provided funds may be enough for approximately "another couple of months."

U.S. President Joe Biden assured the G7 counterparts that he believes in further support for Ukraine by the Democratic and Republican Parties, Kirby said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Biden called on Republican members of the House of Representatives once again to continue financial support for Ukraine.

"Speaker McCarthy and the majority of House Republicans must keep their word and secure passage of the support needed to help Ukraine as it defends itself," Biden said on the X social network, formerly known as Twitter.

The Republicans have a majority in the House of Representatives, which allows them blocking many initiatives of the Biden administration. Numerous House Republicans wondered in recent months whether the U.S. was spending money on Ukraine wisely and whether stricter control over how Kiev uses those funds might be necessary.

Earlier, Biden signed the government funding bill approved and submitted by the Congress.

The bill, which allots funds for 45 days of operation of government agencies, does not include financial support for Ukraine. This priority of the Democrats has triggered heated debates.
