The time has come for a new friendship agreement between Poland and Ukraine, Polish President Andrzej Duda has said.

"We can safely say that the historic moment is shaping our relations in a new way [...]. Today the time has come, in my profound conviction, for a new Polish-Ukrainian treaty, a treaty on good neighborliness, which will take into account what we have achieved together in our relations in recent months alone," Duda said in his speech at a plenary session of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada on Sunday.

He said that the Polish-Ukrainian border should unite, not divide.

The experience has shown that the infrastructure of highways and railroads between Poland and Ukraine is not the best, Duda said and proposed that a high-speed transport link is created between Kyiv and Warsaw.

"Let one of the landmarks of our [good] relations be a high-speed transport link between Kyiv and Warsaw. I believe that we will do it in the coming years," the Polish president said.
