Eight out of 10 safe corridors worked on Sat, 6,600 people evacuated – Vereschuk

KYIV. March 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereschuk has said that on Saturday, 8 out of 10 humanitarian corridors worked, through which 6,623 people were evacuated.

"Out of 10 humanitarian corridors, 8 worked today. A total of 6,623 people were evacuated," Vereschuk said in her address on Saturday evening.

In particular, 4,128 people were evacuated from Mariupol to Zaporizhia, of which 1,172 were children. Also, almost 500 Mariupol residents were transported from the city of Manhush to Berdiansk, who will leave for Zaporizhia in the morning.

According to her, on Sunday at 9:00 in front of the Berdiansk sports complex there will be evacuation buses that will leave for Zaporizhia at 11:00. Work is also underway on the evacuation of Mariupol residents from Melekine and Nikolske.

In Kyiv region: 500 people were evacuated from the village of Bervytsia to Brovary, and 320 people from Bucha to Bilohorodka; 1,000 people from Bohdanivka to Brovary.

According to her, the evacuation from Borodianka to Bila Tserkva did not take place due to the shelling, on Sunday there will be an attempt to organize the corridor again from the very morning.

In Luhansk region, 160 people were evacuated from Lysychansk to Bakhmut; 160 people from Severodonetsk to Bakhmut; 45 people from Rubizhne to Bakhmut; and 310 people from Popasna to Bakhmut.

Vereschuk said that trucks with humanitarian aid remain halfway in Kherson region, as they were stopped by the occupying forces.

"Tomorrow we are planning evacuation routes for Kyiv region, the continuation of the evacuation of Mariupol residents to Zaporizhia and the delivery of humanitarian supplies in Kharkiv region," Vereschuk said.
