French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed Russia's war of conquest against Ukraine via videoconference, the press service of the French Foreign Ministry reports.

"The Minister [Jean-Yves Le Drian] stressed the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of the war that Russia has unleashed and is waging, and the importance of establishing a ceasefire without delay in order to ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people in a safe environment," the message says.

He noted that the Russian offensive would greatly destabilize the international order and took note of his Chinese counterpart's serious concerns about the risks of a large impact of the war on the world economy, in particular on energy markets.

In this context, the minister called on his Chinese counterpart to use all possible levers of China's influence on Russia in order to push the Russian Federation to end the war.

"The ministers agreed to continue exchanges of views, in particular at the UN Security Council, in order to contribute to the development of a quick diplomatic solution to end the war, fully respect the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine and provide it with humanitarian assistance," the press release said.
