The Mariupol City Council asks to unblock the city and open a humanitarian corridor.

"While at a distance of 1,500 kilometers from Mariupol in Warsaw or Budapest, in Munich or Paris, children go to school, in our city they are deprived of such an opportunity. More precisely, they were ruthlessly and cynically deprived of it. Deprived of a peaceful childhood. But we can still save their peaceful future. Mariupol must be released. It is urgently necessary to open a humanitarian corridor and save half a million Mariupol residents," the Mariupol City Council said in a Telegram on Tuesday.

The city council recalled that as a result of the blockade in the city, a six-year-old girl Tanya, who was taken out from under the ruins of a destroyed house, died of dehydration.

"Occupiers from Russia cynically deprived half a million Mariupol residents of water, light, heat and communications. Blocked all exits and entrances to the city. They left people cut off from the outside world. Because of these scoundrels, our native Mariupol fell into the trap of a humanitarian catastrophe. All attempts to deliver food and medicine to our countrymen were blocked by the Russian army. Just like attempts to evacuate Mariupol residents were blocked," the message says.

The City Council asks the world community to close the sky over Ukraine.

"We also shout that there are forces for the world community to make a decision to close the sky over Ukraine. This will not return our dear Tanya, but it will let us protect thousands of children's lives in Ukraine," the Mariupol City Council said.
