Criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war have been launched on the fact of an air strike on the city of Sumy, which claimed the lives of 21 people, including two children.

As reported on the Facebook page of Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, the aggressor's actions are classified under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

"According to the investigation, the military personnel of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, in violation of the rules of warfare, on March 7, 2022, at about 22:35, carried out an air strike on the residential sector of Romenska and Spartaka Streets, Sumy. As a result of the bombing, building No.27, Romenska Street, partially destroyed houses 29, 29/1, 33, Romenska Street, houses No. 18,16,14,10,8,6,4,2,9,7,5,3,1/1, Spartaka Street. Preliminarily, during the inspection at the site of the airstrike, as of 07:00, the bodies of 21 people were found, including two children. The number of victims is being established," the office said.
