ECHR halts cases against Ukraine, govt imposes moratorium on fulfillment of obligations to Russian-affiliated persons – justice minister

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), at the request of Kyiv, stopped the consideration of cases against Ukraine, Minister of Justice Denys Maliuska said on Facebook on Friday.

He also recalled that Ukraine initiated a new case at the ECHR against the Russian Federation, within which it has already received interim measures prohibiting Russians from taking a number of actions.

"This, of course, did not stop them, but it weakened their legal positions for future trials," Maliuska said.

He also said that the Cabinet of Ministers, by its resolution, imposed a moratorium on the fulfillment of obligations to persons associated with the Russian Federation, as well as the alienation of their assets. "I ask notaries and the banking community to pay special attention to this resolution, it will be published in the next few hours," the Minister of Justice wrote.
