Euro 2012 promo video about Ukraine to be broadcast on Euronews, Eurosport, BBC in late 2010
The broadcasting of a television advertising video to boost Ukraine's image ahead of Euro 2012 will start on Euronews, Eurosport and the BBC in November-December 2010, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Borys Kolesnikov has said.
"I think the video will first be broadcast on Euronews and Eurosport on November 15 and on the BBC in early December," he said at the presentation of a promo video and a new logo of Ukraine in Kyiv on Thursday.
The purpose of the promo video, "Switch on Ukraine," is to acquaint Europeans with the traditions of the Ukrainian people, and their spirit of freedom and hospitality, the organizers said.
Kolesnikov, in turn, said that work was also to be conducted on three more videos on the history of the country.
Ukrainian film director Yulian Ulybin and German cameraman Torsten Lippstock worked on the promo video from October 12 to November 1. The shooting took place at Boryspil International Airport and the Kyiv-Boryspil highway. The video shows a panorama of Kyiv at night, the National Opera House of Ukraine in Kyiv, Lviv Opera House, the Parus Business Center in Kyiv, the Donbass Palace Hotel in Donetsk, the Rynok (Market) Square in Lviv, the Synevir National Park in the Carpathians, Koktebel, Balaklava, the Sevastopol quay, the Freedom Square in Kharkiv, the Kamianets-Podilsky fortress, as well as the panoramas of the Carpathians, Crimea, and the Askania-Nova natural reserve.
A new logo of Ukraine was also presented on Thursday. The logo features one of the most popular and well-known Ukrainian symbols – a sunflower. According to the creators of the logo, this sign conveys the image of Ukraine as being filled with warmth, love and hospitality.
All Ukrainian companies will be able to use the logo free of charge after the completion of respective procedures with its designers.
