Prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) have admitted that the evidence they gathered during the pre-trial investigation into the theft of funds of the State Agency of Ukraine for Investments and National Projects Management is sufficient to draw up an indictment, the SAPO has said.

Investigators from the NABU (the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine) have been instructed to inform the defense party of the completion of the pre-trial investigation and provide it with access to the materials of the pre-trial investigation, according to a report on the Facebook page of the SAPO.

In the course of the investigation, SAPO prosecutors determined that in 2012 more than UAH 500 million was allocated from the national budget of Ukraine for the implementation of a number of national projects.

"In particular, the Quality Water project, which provided for the establishment of potable water bottling machines in the largest cities of Ukraine, and the Olympic Hope 2022 project, within which it was supposed to build infrastructure facilities for holding the Winter Olympic Games in Ukraine," it says.

In addition, on June 24 the SAPO prosecutors agreed and handed in the final statement on suspicion of criminal offenses to eight suspects, whose location is established.

Suspicions of the commission of criminal offenses relate to Part 1 of Article 255 (creation of a criminal organization), Part 5 of Article 191 (seizure of another's property in especially large amounts by abuse of official position), Part 2 of Article 205 (acquisition or creation of business entities for the purpose of covering up illegal activities, committed repeatedly), Part 3 of Article 209 (legalization of incomes obtained by criminal means in especially large amounts) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
