Court places truck driver-participant of traffic accident in Mykolaiv region, killing Belarus citizens, under house arrest

The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of house arrest to the 42-year-old truck driver, with the participation of which a fatal road accident took place on the highway near the town of Kryve Ozero (Mykolaiv region).

"On July 23, 2018, the investigating judge examined the investigator's request coordinated with the procedural leader and chose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest for the 42-year-old truck driver, with the participation of which a terrible car accident took place on the road near the village of Kryve Ozero," the prosecutor's office of Mykolaiv region said on Monday.

The suspect is liable, in particular, to come to the investigator, the prosecutor, the investigating judge at the first request at a certain time, to hand his foreign passport, and to refrain from communicating with the victims and witnesses in this criminal proceeding.

As reported, on July 20, near the village of Kryve Ozero (Mykolaiv region) on the Kyiv-Odesa route, a Volkswagen minibus (of Belarusian registration) crashed into a truck parked on the roadside due to a breakdown. As a result of the road accident, five people were killed and 12 people received injuries of varying severity. All of them are citizens of Belarus.

On July 21, a truck driver was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules or the operation of transport, which caused the death of several persons).
