President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko thanked the United States of America for supporting Ukraine in response to Russia's aggression.

"Last year our American partners confirmed to be in the lead of fight against Russia's revanchist policies. From the first meeting with President Trump we coordinated the strengthening of our strategic partnership based on Great Deal on Peace and Great Plan of Success," Poroshenko said at a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions of foreign countries and international organizations in Ukraine in Kyiv on Tuesday.

The president said that Ukrainians are grateful for the "peace through strength" approach and, accordingly, the decision to provide Ukraine with defensive lethal weapons, as well as coordinated steps to implement the initiative to deploy the UN peacekeeping mission in the occupied Donbas.

According to him, Ukraine also highly appreciates the firm position of the U.S. on transatlantic unity and solidarity with the Ukrainian state, including the policy of sanctions. "They are the most efficient and civilized reply to the bullying Russia," he said.
