National TV Council to expand television, radio broadcasting to Crimea in 2018

Digital broadcasting of ten Ukrainian television channels to the territory of Crimea is to be launched before June 2018, a member of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting, Serhiy Kostynsky, has said.

"Simultaneously with the modernization of the Chaplynka tower in the south of Kherson region, we plan to increase the number of Ukrainian digital television channels that broadcast to Crimea, from +5 to +10. We should also increase the number of radio stations from +4 to +7 in the next six months," he wrote on his Facebook page.

Earlier, he announced plans of the national council to create an additional digital multiplex with the purpose of organizing the powerful broadcasting of the first five Ukrainian TV channels in the direction of Armiansk and Krasnoperekopsk.

As reported, it is planned to increase the height of the state television tower in Chaplynka in Kherson region to 133 meters in the first half of 2018. This will help broadcast Ukrainian television and radio programs to Krasnoperekopsk district in Russia-occupied Crimea.
