Draft bill on Rada's right to 'express no confidence' in heads of anti-corruption agencies part of plan to destroy NABU, SAPO
The draft bill authored by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine coalition leaders extending grants of authority to parliament on the firing of anti-corruption agency heads (No. 7362) via non-confidence votes represents a blow against the independence of the newly formed anti-corruption agencies, the National Anti-corruption Bureau (NABU) has said.
"We emphasize that if this draft bill is adopted it will deal a massive blow to the independence of newly created anti-corruption agencies and the success in battling corruption which have been achieved, despite systemic resistance from the ruling elite," NABU's press service said on Thursday morning.
NABU said chances were high that the law could be approved in the nearest future.
