The number of recorded intentional murders in 2017 is the lowest for the last 20 years, Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Viacheslav Abroskin has said.

According to him, not a single murder has been recorded for the past day in Ukraine.

According to statistics from 1997 to 2017, cited by the Liaison Department of the National Police of Ukraine, the number of premeditated murders committed during the nine months of each year ranged from a peak of 3,494 such murders (2000 year) to the lowest recorded in this year – 1,185 premeditated murders. Consequently, the number of murders committed during nine months of 2017, compared to the previous years, has decreased almost threefold.

During the summing up of the work of the department during nine months of this year, the head of the National Police Serhiy Kniazev said that 88% of the murders in the country have been solved.

Earlier, the first deputy head of the National Police Abroskin said that the number of murders and assassinations this year was the lowest in the last ten years.
