No-fly zone over Vinnytsia ammo depots grows again

The Ukrainian aviation authorities have expanded the no-fly zone over ammo depots in Vinnytsia region, Interfax-Ukraine has learned from the Ukrainian Airspace Management and Planning Centre (Ukraerocenter).

The no-fly zone originally extended 50 kilometers in every direction and at altitudes ranging from the surface to the upper limit of the airspace in the period between September 26 and the evening of September 27. Later, the ban was extended until 11:59 p.m. on October 1, and the no-fly zone was reduced to 12 kilometers and 4,250 meters. Now, new restrictions specifying an area of 40 kilometers around Kalynivka and all altitudes have been put in place until 2:59 a.m. on October 2.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Service Enterprise (UkSATSE, or Ukraerorukh in Ukrainian) told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday that Vinnytsia Airport, which found itself within the temporary no-fly zone, would not resume operation until 2:59 a.m. on September 28, 2017.

A fire broke out and ammunition started exploding at military posts in Kalynivka district of Vinnytsia region on the evening of September 26.
