Law on e-declaration could be changed after consultation with EC, system won't be weakened

Ukraine's Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko admits the law on compulsory electronic declaration for officials could be amended after the changes are agreed with the European Commission experts.

"The discussion [on the possible amendments to the law] is in process. I know about it. It is being held in parliamentary and expert circles. But any changes to the law should be agreed with the European Commission experts, they should be considered," he said in an interview with Channel Five.

According to the minister, law enforcement agencies should have access to all the information in officials' declarations, but it should not be open for everyone because this could cause a threat to the declarants on the part of intruders.

"There won't be any narrowing or weakening of the electronic declaration system in any way," the minister stressed.
