Ukrainian State Security Service says Russian involvement possible in attacks planned for Euro 2016

Ukraine's State Security Service (SBU) does not rule out Russian involvement in planned attacks in France during the Euro 2016 football tournament, SBU head Vasyl Hrytsak said in Kyiv on Monday.

"The version of possible Russian involvement came up at the last minute, during communications [between the French suspect] and individuals with whom he was working, during the course of a special operation organized by the SBU. The suspect offered several thousand EUR extra for a Ukrainian citizen to escort this shipment [of weapons, explosives] to Europe. This was the key moment. We therefore think that it could have been a setup by Russian special forces," the SBU chief said on Monday during a briefing in Kyiv.
