Savchenko says in her final statement she won't recognize court sentence

Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko, who is charged with involvement in the killing of Russian journalists, said in her final statement in the Donetsk City Court on Wednesday that she is innocent.

"I do not recognize the guilt or the sentence which will be handed down by the Russian court. If I am convicted, there will be no appeal. After the sentence, I continue my hunger strike for another ten days. In ten days, I go on a dry hunger strike, and then Russia has ten days to take me to Ukraine," Savchenko said in Ukrainian.

She said she will continue her dry hunger strike.

"Making all my political decisions, I will always think about people, both Ukrainian and Russian. The court has stolen a week of my life and now I only have one week. Maybe I will live to the court decision and maybe not. You can read the sentence today, tomorrow or in a week, at the latest. If you want to play games with my life, do it. But my life is at stake. And the stake is high. I will continue my dry hunger strike," Savchenko said.

The court will give a decision on her case on March 21 and March 22.
