The Ukrainian government has reported the dismantlement of 139 monuments of communist leaders in 2015, in its program report.

"Forty Lenin monuments have been deprived of the monument status, and 139 monuments to officials from the communist totalitarian regime have been dismantled," says the report published on the government website.

A number of de-communization laws were passed in 2015, among them, the laws "On Condemnation the Communist and National Socialist (Nazi) Totalitarian Regimes and Ban on Propaganda of their Symbols", "On Access to Archives of Repression Agencies of the Communist Totalitarian Regime of 1917-1991", "On Commemoration of the Victory over the Nazi in WWII of 1939-1945" and "On the Legal Status and Commemoration of Ukrainian Freedom Fighters in the 20th Century," the government said.
