Poroshenko visits Supreme Allied Powers Europe Headquarters

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on Thursday has visited the Headquarters of Supreme Allied Commander in Europe Philip Breedlove in Brussels.

This follows from president's official account in VKontakte.

The post also adds a joint photo of Poroshenko and Breedlove.

Meanwhile, the president's press service said that the head of state on his visit of the NATO headquarters in Europe reported on the situation with the security in Donbas, war threats from Russian side and provocative actions of Russia-supported militants.

Poroshenko stressed how important is U.S. and NATO cooperation to strengthen defense capacities of Ukraine necessary for efficient counteraction of continuing Russian aggression and hybrid wars.

"For Ukraine cooperation with NATO is one of the first task issues to reinforce defense of the country," Poroshenko said.

Poroshenko thanked for step-by-step political support and a practical aid, which provided by the United States and other states, especially for joint exercises in Yavoriv ground field in Lviv region.

The head of state also discussed development of the cooperation with NATO in the defense sector.

For his part, Breedlove highly estimated an existent level of cooperation with Ukraine.

He confirmed NATO's readiness to render aid to face current challenges Ukraine faces nowadays.

As reported, the president today visits Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe and examines the work of the NATO Special Operations Headquarters, where staff talks will be held under the presidency of the Ukrainian president and Supreme Allied Commander in Europe Philip M. Breedlove. Poroshenko is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Breedlove behind closed doors.

On Thursday afternoon, Poroshenko will meet with Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg. Following the meeting, they will have a joint press conference.
