If Russia blocks a resolution on the establishment of an international tribunal to investigate the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 disaster then it face the political consequences, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maryana Betsa said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"Certainly Russia may veto [the resolution], everybody already knows about that. In this case it must be called to political account," Betsa said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The ministry said that the creation of an international tribunal would depoliticize the process and provide an impartial inquiry.

At present, intensive consultations are taking place in New York to ensure maximum support for the resolution, which is scheduled to be voted on at 22:00 Kyiv time, Betsa added.
