U.S. aware of Russian military presence in Ukraine's east – Poroshenko's press service

Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Andriy Taranov has presented evidence of Russian military involvement in the conflict in Donbas to U.S. officials, the press service of the Ukrainian president has reported.
During his visit to Washington, Taranov and head of the counter-intelligence department of the Security Service of Ukraine Vitaliy Naida met with U.S. Vice-President's Special Advisor for Europe and Eurasia Michael Carpenter and the U.S. National Security Council's Director for Eastern Europe Liz Zentos.
"The White House officials were briefed about the situation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone and the fact of the participation of the Russian army's regular units first in the developments in Crimea, and then in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. It was emphasized that Russian special services in cooperation with the Russian Armed Forces were bringing about instability and encouraging subversive activities by illegal armed formations on the territory of Ukraine, which are delivering small arms and heavy weapons to terrorists," the statement reads.
The U.S. officials stated their clear understanding of the Russian military presence in eastern Ukraine and expressed their support for the Ukrainian people in their struggle for the territorial integrity and the independence of their state, the press service reported.
