Kazakh president urges world leaders to hold talks on Ukraine crisis solution

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has called on world leaders to reach a compromise on the Ukrainian crisis.

"I call on all heads of state to meet personally, sit down at the negotiating table, find a compromise, stop this bacchanalia and restore normal life in all states," Nazarbayev said during a nationwide TV link-up in Astana on Thursday.

The Kazakh leader said that a few days ago, he "paid a difficult working visit to Ukraine."

"The root of all problems there is the absence of stability and social accord. That is why their economy is not working. There is no one who would tackle these issues. And people there lack basic things. There are rolling blackouts. Where? In Ukraine, which cannot be compared with Kyrgyzstan," Nazarbayev said.

"Plants and factory are being shut down there. Businesses are collapsing. And in order to restore Donbas and Luhansk, Ukraine's premier. Mr. Yatseniuk, says: "I cannot even imagine how much money we need in general to restore everything in Ukraine itself," the Kazakh president said.

"Everything there has been broken and destroyed," he said.
