Last Malaysian victim of MH17 plane crash identified

The last Malaysian passenger killed in the MH17 crash in eastern Ukraine was identified, Malaysian Transport Minister Dato' Seri Liow Tiong Lai reported.

So now the remains of all 44 Malaysian passengers of Flight MH17 have been identified.

"I wish to reiterate our commitment to the families of the passengers and crew of MH17 and the fact that justice must be served on the criminals who caused this heinous act. Towards this end, investigations at the crash site must continue despite the on-going geopolitical situation on the ground," the minister said.

As the Dutch government earlier reported, the total number of identified victims of the plane crash grew to 289, the Dutch government said.

Malaysia Airlines' Boeing 777 (flight MH17) crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 while flying from Amsterdam (the Netherlands) to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). All 298 people on board were killed. They included 196 Dutch nationals, 44 Malaysians, including the 15 crew members, and 27 Australians, as well as citizens of Indonesia, Germany, Belgium, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand.
