Tymoshenko not to challenge election results if defeated

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said that if she loses the presidential elections she will not challenge their results.

Tymoshenko made this statement during a speech broadcast on Poltava's Misto television channel on Thursday.

"I must say if Ukrainians elect their president, and that will not be Tymoshenko, I will accept their choice calmly. We will not challenge the results in courts to avoid disorder, which could destabilize the country," the premier said.

At the same time, Tymoshenko expressed confidence that she will win the presidential elections. The premier also said that her principal opponent would be leader of the opposition Regions Party Viktor Yanukovych.
