Prosecutors charge Tsariov with encroachment on Ukraine's territorial integrity and inviolability

Kyiv Prosecutor's Office has included in a unified register of pre-trial investigations the information on Ukrainian presidential candidate and Regions Party MP Oleh Tsariov criminal committing actions under Article 110 of the Criminal Code (encroachment on Ukraine's territorial integrity and inviolability), the press service of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office has reported.

Such a reaction by the prosecutor's office is related to public statements made by Tsariov during mass events and in the media, in which he "called for the separation of the country, encroached on the territorial integrity of the state and expressed separatist intentions."

According to Kyiv Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched to establish the degree of the MP's responsibility for the propagation of separatist ideas.

"If these facts and his guilt are confirmed, the Prosecutor General's Office will prepare an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a motion to strip parliamentarian Tsariov of his status as a people's deputy of Ukraine. Simultaneously a motion could be submitted to the Central Election Commission to deprive him of the status of a candidate for president of Ukraine," the Prosecutor General's Office reported.

Tsariov has parliamentary immunity.
