Yatseniuk promises all necessary assistance to families of Donetsk coal mine blast victims
The families of those killed and injured in an accident at the Skochynsky coal mine in Donetsk will receive all of the necessary assistance, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
He said that the government would sign a respective instruction on Friday.
"The respective services are operating at the scene of the accident, and they will immediately provide assistance, including financial assistance, to the families of the victims," Yatseniuk said in Donetsk on Friday
Seven people were killed in the coalmine accident at 0600, and eight more were injured.
A methane-air mixture explosion occurred at the fourth section of the mine at 0624 on Friday. There were 78 people in the mine at the time of the accident. The prosecutor's office of Donetsk region has already opened a criminal inquiry into the miners' deaths.
