PGO could appeal to court for compulsory transportation of Tymoshenko to UESU case hearing, says Pshonka

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) is considering the possibility of appealing to the courts regarding the compulsory transportation of jailed former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to a court hearing of the criminal case on the activities of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU) Corporation.

"Tymoshenko must face the court, and that's why there is a conclusion of forensic medicine experts saying that she can work with investigators and the court. There is a conclusion of a qualified commission of the Health Ministry reading that she has underwent a treatment course and should be discharged, but the time will come and quite possibly the state prosecution would appeal to a court and the court will have to rule that Tymoshenko be taken to court for the participation in the hearing," Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka told a press briefing in Odesa.

He added that even if Tymoshenko is not taken to the court, a ruling would still be issued.

"Yulia Tymoshenko has refused to attend the court hearing in Kharkiv for the sixteenth time… Can you show me the law allowing that if Tymoshenko does not want to go to the court then there won't be any rulings? No, it has to be issued and it will be issued," Pshonka said.

He also said that other criminal cases against Tymoshenko that are being investigated would be submitted to courts for consideration.

"There are criminal cases that are being investigated and they are at the final stage. They will also be sent to courts," Pshonka said.
