Higher court to announce ruling on Lutsenko's second cassation on April 10

The judges of the Higher Specialized Court on Civil and Criminal Cases will on April 10 announce a ruling on the appeal against the second conviction of former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko regarding the poisoning of third Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko.
"The court is going to the consultation room. The estimated time of the ruling announcement is 1000 on April 10," presiding judge Valeriy Shvets said after the speech of the state prosecution representative.
However, in fact, the decision of the Higher Specialized Court on this appeal will not influence the term of Lutsenko's imprisonment, as on April 3 this court upheld the decision on a four-year imprisonment for the ex-minister on malfeasance.
Given the fact that the duration of sentence starts from the time of arrest, Lutsenko will be released in late 2014.
As reported, on February 27, 2012, Kyiv Pechersky District Court found Lutsenko guilty of several crimes and sentenced him to four years in prison. Kyiv Court of Appeals upheld that sentence.
