Opposition calls on Tymoshenko to end hunger strike

Opposition political parties – Batkivschyna, Svoboda, and Vitali Klitschko's UDAR Party – have called on former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to end her hunger strike.

"We, the opposition parties – Batkivschyna, Svoboda and Vitali Klitschko's UDAR Party – are addressing Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko. Yulia Volodymyrivna, your courage has always been and is an example to us, and it inspires us in our struggle against the regime of [President Viktor] Yanukovych. Ukraine needs you, your family needs you, and all of us need you. Your struggle and your existence are a threat to the government, and it would be happy to get rid of them in the worst way," reads a joint statement by opposition parties, which was released on Monday.

"We are calling on you not to let them do that with you. End your hunger strike, and do not make the greatest sacrifice. We are confident that millions of Ukrainians and other people of goodwill will join this request," reads the statement.

As reported, on October 29, Tymoshenko went on a hunger strike in protest against rigged parliamentary elections.
