Ukraine opposition blames CEC for stealing votes from its candidates

Ukraine's Batkivschyna United Opposition has disagreed with the election returns in some of the single-mandate electoral districts and blamed the Central Election Commission for stealing votes from the opposition candidates.

"We will never accept the Central Election Commission's decision. These people are criminals, not people's deputies, and we will do all we can to prevent them from taking the oath, and to make the parliament illegitimate," it said in a statement on Sunday.

The statement also says that by declaring Oleksandr Dombrovsky and Viktor Zherebniuk winners in electoral constituencies No.11 and No.14 "the Central Election Commission, to be more exact, the members who had backed that shameful decision, became accomplices in the crime of legitimizing the theft of votes in those districts," it said.

The initial vote count and the initially sealed reports demonstrated opposition candidates Natalia Soleiko's and Ivan Melnychuk's convincing victories in those districts, the statement says.

The opposition reserves the right to use all instruments of protest available and to act to defend the rights of candidates Soleiko and Melnychuk's, and to restore democracy and justice in Ukraine, it said.
