1 min read

All of the Hasidic Jews who came to Uman (Cherkasy region) to celebrate the Jewish New Year have left for Israel.

This year about 23,000 Israeli pilgrims visited Uman.

"Despite so many foreign guests arriving, there were no serious violations of public order," the department on communications with the public of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine in Cherkasy region reported.

Policemen from other Ukrainian regions, members of public organizations, and Jewish police helped policemen from Cherkasy region to control and coordinate public order.

As reported, every fall, pilgrims go to Uman to visit the grave of Reb Nahman. Their number is increasing now that the visa regime has been lifted between Ukraine and Israel.
