Kyiv chocolate dealer busted with psychotropic mushrooms, over UAH 1 mln in goods seized
Law enforcement officers have exposed and reported a 31-year-old Kyiv resident who was growing psychotropic mushrooms at home and selling them, both in dry form and disguised in chocolate, the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reports.
"It was established that the suspect was growing psilocybin mushrooms in an apartment, drying them, and selling them from hand to hand in chocolates. During a search of the apartment, about two kilograms of sweets ready for sale, dried psilocybin mushrooms, containers for their cultivation, zip-packs with mushroom spores, containers containing mycelium, zip-packs with cannabis, the psychotropic substance kratom, and money were seized," the report states.
It is noted that the estimated value of the seized items at "black" market prices is over UAH 1 million. A chocolate bar with mushrooms, depending on their quantity, cost from 2200 to 3400 UAH.
The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect.
The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to twelve years with confiscation of property.
