Zelenskyy appoints Nechytailo as ambassador to China – decree

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyyy has appointed Oleksandr Nechytailo as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the People's Republic of China.

Corresponding decree No. 217/2025 of April 7, 2025 was published on the website of the head of state.

As it is known from open sources, until May 2022, Nechytailo held the posts of Ukrainian Ambassador to Malaysia and concurrently to the Philippines and the Democratic Republic of East Timor (Timor-Leste).

From June 18, 2016 to May 4, 2022, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Malaysia.

From February 2016 to June 2016, he worked as Acting Director of the Department of Asia-Pacific Countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Nechytailo also worked as a counselor at the Ukrainian Embassy in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), second secretary at the Ukrainian Embassy in China (Beijing), and second secretary at the Ukrainian Embassy in Indonesia (Jakarta).

He was born in Kyiv on September 20, 1973. In 1995, he graduated from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, specializing in philology (teacher of Ukrainian language and literature, Chinese language and literature).
