Russia escalates attacks on Ukraine's energy system – Ukrainian Energy Minister

This winter, Russian aggressors reached a new level of attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, utilizing all available weaponry, causing significantly more damage and complicating recovery efforts, Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko stated.
"This heating season has brought an entirely new level of attacks and new weaponry. Ukraine's energy infrastructure is now targeted by all types of weapons, including advanced systems," Haluschenko said during a parliamentary Q&A session on Friday, as cited in the session's transcript.
He stressed that Russia is now deploying ballistic missiles and cluster munitions for strikes on the energy system, causing severe damage and greatly hindering restoration work.
"Of the 1,750 various missiles and drones that attacked the energy system last year, 900 were used in this short period since November 17," Haluschenko added.
He refrained from disclosing the specifics of the January 15 attack on energy and gas infrastructure but assured that gas supplies to consumers remain stable.
"While we cannot provide detailed information about the aftermath of these attacks, the key point is that gas supply to consumers is stable and functioning as planned," Haluschenko said.
On January 15, Russian forces launched drone and missile attacks on critical infrastructure in Lviv region, targeting facilities in Drohobych and Stryi districts.
