President to raise issue of inviting Ukraine to NATO at meeting with several European partners – Zhovkva

At a meeting with several European partners, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will raise in particular the issue of Ukraine's invitation to NATO and security guarantees before membership in the alliance, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva has said.

"Work goes on, and these agreements [in the security sphere] are one of the elements of such security guarantees. The President will continue to talk about other possible elements with partners. He spoke yesterday, announced a relevant meeting at the level of several European partners. And yes, one of the issues on the agenda of such a meeting will certainly be the issue of obtaining an application for membership, and the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine until it joins NATO," he said during the presentation of the results of a survey entitled "Foreign Policy and Security. Sentiments of Ukrainian society."

According to the official, this will be discussed along with other issues such as military support for Ukraine.

"Of course, these issues were also raised during the recent meeting of the President of Ukraine with French President Emmanuel Macron and newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump," Zhovkva said.

As reported, before a meeting with German chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz, Zelenskyy proposed a Contact Group of Germany, France, Poland, the UK – the four major countries of Europe and NATO – to exchange views on ending the war, and develop a joint vision of this with the United States.

Later, presidential spokesman Serhiy Nykyforov said Ukraine was gathering key partners who, together with the United States, could maximize it, with the meeting scheduled for December.

According to him, "the final list of participants is still being formed, but these are the countries that have long-range capabilities, the countries that make the largest investments in Ukrainian arms production, and the countries on which our future in NATO depends."

"Ukraine plans to hold this meeting in December to coordinate, to develop a common position, to ensure that it will be strong in any development of events both in negotiations and on the battlefield," the presidential spokesman added.
